Watering Trees & Shrubs Water in the evening (after 8:00pm) soaking the soil near the plant for at least one hour, three times per week. DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT water lightly. Light watering causes the roots to reach upward toward the water and become more vulnerable to drying. Plan on spacing out your watering to every other night. After the first 3 months, you may cut back to watering twice a week (2X). Around the end of September stop watering. You will not have to water the second year unless you are having drought conditions. Generally taller or wider plants require more water! |
